Career opportunities are plentiful with cities, 县, 机构, or industries that operate and maintain water treatment, 配水, wastewater collection, and/or wastewater treatment systems.  Bismarck State College’s 水 & Wastewater Technology Certificate program equip individuals with the skills and knowledge needed for entry-level employment in water and wastewater treatment facilities in just two semesters. 

Looking to take the first steps towards a fulfilling career in water treatment?

水 and wastewater operators manage or control an entire process or system of machines, often through the use of control boards, to transfer or treat water or wastewater.

Operators apply biological, chemical and mechanical knowledge and skills to the operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, perform laboratory testing and analyses, and understand the responsibilities of water and wastewater treatment operators regarding the safety of communities, personnel and the environment.

Begin your career quickly

The Certificate in 水 and Wastewater Technology is offered online and is designed for entry-level employment in water and wastewater treatment facilities.  Students will attend online classes for two semesters, allowing them to enter the workforce in less than one year.  Brief on campus courses or shadowing at an approved facility is required.

NOTE: 在线 students in this program are required to complete 80 hours of job shadowing as part of the ENRT 220 - Practical Applications course. The course should be completed in the final semester of the program.  This requirement provides graduates with hands-on field competencies needed for working at an energy site. The Practical Applications instructor will work with students at the start of the ENRT 220 course to find a viable job shadow location. Students currently employed at an energy-related company often satisfy this requirement at their place of employment.

The courses for this program will be offered during the fall and spring semesters in an online format.  Select courses are available on campus.  This program has minimum entrance requirements. Details can be found 在这里.

Meet continuing education requirements

水 and wastewater operators employed in North Dakota are required to meet North Dakota certification requirements.  Graduates of the BSC 水 & Wastewater Technology program will qualify for a certification track that allows reduced work experience to take the Class II, III and IV certification examinations.  Students completing the job shadowing requirements of the program may also earn experience credit towards North Dakota's first-level certification requirement.
